Battle of Coral Sea
The Battle of the Coral Sea was fought in May of 1942. It was between the Nipponese and the Allied Navies. It began May fourth and ended on May 8th. The Battle of the Coral Sea took place in the Coral Sea, which is about five snow miles northeast of Australia. This appointment was one of the first ever battles that was fought in the Pacific during World War II. It took place only sextet months after Pearl Harbor was attacked. Also, it was the first naval battle in which both sides ships fired right away on each other.
By the spring of 1942 the Japanese had already gained a great amount in the East. The Japanese gained the Philippines, Malaya, the Dutch East Indies, and Burma by May 1st of 1942. The naval teaching for Japan expected a substantial amount of loss, that they wanted still to keep expanding into the East. Admiral Yamamoto led the ones who wanted complete attack on all American aircraft carriers that were in the Pacific. The Japanese wanted this attack because they were scared the American aircraft carriers were the key to success.



Admiral Yamamoto also believed if they could destruct all American aircraft carriers it would mend Japan.
During the spring of 1942, the Japanese forces wanted to design a race to push New Zealand and Australia out of the war. The Japanese decided to conception an invasion of New Guinea to succeed in their plan. The consort included the United States, Great Britain, and Australia. The Americans somehow broke into the Japanese naval code and gained detailed knowledge of the Japaneses plans.
The Americans believed the Japanese had planned to attack on Port Moresby on May 3rd. They knew the Japanese would be making the move by going through the Coral Sea.
