Over the course of the eight days that Martin Luther King younger was in jail in Birmingham, Alabama, he wrote a letter in a response to a newspaper expression regarding his recent protest. He addressed the letter to a bailiwick audience in accepts that this would make a major electrical shock on the civil rights heading. The letter gave people courage and hope for a better future, and not just in America, just also in many other countries. In his letter, he wrote that there have been points of injustice, which should not be tolerated. To explain these injustices he employ ethos, condolence and logos to accentuate to persuade the people to agree with his statements.



Ethos is the ethical appeal, which he used his national appeal to convey. He knew he was someone expense listening to and that he was a central figure of the movement so people would respect his opinion and his devotion. Pathos is the use of persuasion through emotional appeal. His emotional appeal is make throughout this whole letter in many antithetic forms. One of these was when he mentioned Adolf Hitler and how he murdered millions of people. It was legal for Hitler to do this, but it showed injustice and made the point that even though it was legal for him to do, that doesnt make it right.
