During the annual writers’ competition held in New York City, a very large number of writers attended the competition so that they could benefit from the awards given to the best writer. Very famous writers like William Shakespeare, Gloria Watkins and Chris hart were among the writers who attended the function. In all the presentation, the work written by Watkins pleased a lot of audience. Specifically, Gloria Watkins wrote a passage called keeping.
This was a very interesting piece of work. The passage was so short but was able to clearly express all the important issues that were required in the competition and was also in accordance with the minimum time that is set for each presentation. Looking at the passage in details, the overall theme of the passage was based on a group of ladies whose major activity is practicing commercial sex as a means of survival. Watkins in this passage explains the need of advising such people on the dangers associated with this kind of behavior.
In explaining these dangers, Watkins also comes up with different ideas which the affected persons can use as a way of avoiding engaging in such acts. For instance, the writer develops solutions for instance advising the affected individuals to form small groups whereby the government can extend some financial support to these groups.
Later on the created groups can use the funds to start up small projects which can be used to generate some form of income. Eventually, such people can be able to realize self dependence. Other interesting themes by different authors include gender equality and life after divorce amongst others.
